Photographic/Image Effects

Photographic/Images Effects are predefined algorithms that enable you to add special effects to your images. The actual effects will depend on the software you use. You can usually choose different effects that will change the edges of your image, noise level, gradient and other aspects of your image. Many graphics and image-editing programs offer image effects specifically for digital photos. These types of effects are used to remove problems that can appear in your original digital photograph such as various lens corrections (pincushion or fisheye) and red-eye removal tools. With most programs you can simply select the name of the image effect and the program will produce the image with the effect, then you can save the changed image. You can also choose undo if you don't like it and select another one to try. Also, you may find your program offers an effects browser, which will open your image as a thumbnail in a browser window that allows you to quickly preview how each effect will look before performing the action. Image effects are used as a way to change your image to add an artistic look, make textured patterns, or produce an enhanced real-world view. Some graphics programs will offer a few predefined effects, others designed with effects in mind may offer hundreds of image effects to choose from.

Here is a link to a website that will show 8 photographic effects, which are the Golden Rectangle, Contre-jour, Long Exposure, Fill Flash, Bokeh, The Golden Hour, Rule of Thirds, and Panning.

Printmaking

Printmaking is the process of making artworks by printing, normally on paper. Printmaking normally covers only the process of creating prints that have an element of originality, rather than just being a photographic reproduction of a painting. Except in the case of monotyping, the process is capable of producing multiples of a same piece, which is called a print. Each print produced is not considered a "copy" but rather is considered an "original". This is because typically each print varies to an extent due to variables intrinsic to the printmaking process, and also because the imagery of a print is typically not simply a reproduction of another work but rather is often a unique image designed from the start to be expressed in a particular printmaking technique. A print may be known as an impression. Printmaking (other than monotyping) is not chosen only for its ability to produce multiple impressions, but rather for the unique qualities that each of the printmaking processes lends itself to. Prints are created by transferring ink from a matrix or through a prepared screen to a sheet of paper or other material. Common types of matrices include: metal plates, usually copper or zinc, or polymer plates for engraving or etching; stone, aluminum, or polymer for lithography; blocks of wood for woodcuts and wood engravings; and linoleum for linocuts. Screens made of silk or synthetic fabrics are used for the screenprinting process.

Graphic designers can create the printmaking effect by using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Here is a video tutorial on how to do this process:

Website Design

Today I will put some videos on this blog that are about Web Design. Now, Web Design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; interface design; authoring, including standardised code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search engine optimization. A  lot of designers use Adobe Dreamweaver,Photoshop, Muse, etc. to create websites.

Here is a video describing why you should use photoshop to create a websites:

Here is another video describing how to create developer friendly files:

These two videos are all part of a series in which the link to this series is right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB7gctaY4lg&index=1&list=PLKuHeJ_vTqEWUDacW9ms9Jnq88Xjla7Xl  if you want to watch more videos about web design.

Photo Collages

Today I will talk about photo collages. Now a collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. In high school I did several collages the old fashioned way with poster board and black and white photos for the history club poster contest.

Here are the posters I created for the contest:

Graphic design photo collages are ten times easier to create. Here are a few examples of my graphic design collages:

Graphic Design used in Advertising

I apologize to my followers/whoever is reading this blog for not posting anything last week. My schedule last week was crazy. Anyway, today we are going to look at advertising and how graphic design fits into it. In advertising, graphic design is the use of text and graphics to create a visually appealing message that entices consumers to learn about the product/service being offered and move to the next step in the purchasing process. Graphic design includes, but is not limited to, the creation of logos, the layout of advertising materials like brochures, catalogs, flyers and print ads and image creation for advertising materials. This includes graphic design for websites. A graphic designer is considered part of the creative team when working in an advertising agency.
