Photography

Today I'll talk about photography. Now Photography is the science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.
Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically "developed" into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.
Photography is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g. photolithography) and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, recreational purposes, and mass communication.

Here is an intro to photography video by Trey Ratcliff that I feel is good for a beginner or if you just got a new camera:

Explaining Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Today I have tutorials for How to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Now, Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor developed and marketed by Adobe Systems. The latest version, Illustrator CC, is the seventeenth generation in the product line.

Here is a tutorial for Adobe Illustrator:

Photoshop is a different from Illustrator because it is mainly used for photography.
Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Systems for Windows and OS X. Photoshop was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll.

Animation

Art is amazing especially when it can be turned into animation. Animation is the process of creating motion and shape change/ illusion by means of the rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other. The illusion—as in motion pictures in general—is thought to rely on the phi phenomenon( the optical illusion of perceiving continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession). Animators are artists who specialize in the creation of animation.

Here is an example of animation:

The video above is very cool and detail oriented. Here is a link to the Nvidia youtube channel where I found this video. https://www.youtube.com/user/nvidia

Here are a few more examples from dreamworks:

Concept Art

Today I will talk about concept art. Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in (but not limited to) films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product.

Everyone has to start somewhere with an idea. So people develop sketches/concept art to help make their ideas into reality. You have several options in creating concept art. Usually most people draw or paint several ideas before deciding which idea turns into the finished product. Personally, I choose to draw my ideas out on paper then I choose 3 ideas, sketch them out more, and then choose a final idea to work with for a project. It is good to sketch 10 ideas, then choose your/or your clients three favorites, and then choose the final idea.

Once you have your final idea/concept chosen, you can then make that idea into the finished product.

If you want more examples of concept art you can follow this link https://www.pinterest.com/mikemeredith/concept-art-examples-for-students/ or just search for concept art at google.com.

Photography

Today I will talk about photography. A definition of photography is the science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. Photos can be creative and artistic, especially when you change them using Adobe Photoshop(a computer program that can change the color, lighting, and size of a photo).

Here are examples of photos that have been changed:

Today I will talk about animation. Animation refers to the creation of a sequence of images—drawn, painted, or produced by other artistic methods—that change over time to portray the illusion of motion. Animation is a unique and interesting process. Several companies that use animation are Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, Industrial Light and Magic, etc. These companies have done movies like the incredibles, brave, big hero 6, up, how to train your dragon, monsters inc., etc.

Here is an example of animation courtesy of youtube:

On a different note, video game design is very similar to animation.
Video game design is the process of designing the content and rules of a video game in the pre-production stage[1] and designing the gameplay, environment, storyline, and characters in the production stage. The designer of a game is very much like the director of a film; the designer is the visionary of the game and controls the artistic and technical elements of the game in fulfillment of their vision.[2] Video game design requires artistic and technical competence as well as writing skills.[3] Within the video game industry, video game design is usually just referred to as "game design", which is a more general term elsewhere.
There are several video game design companies like artifex mundi games, alawar, nintendo, gogii, big fish games, atari, ea games, her interactive, etc.
Here is a link to the websites of artifex mundi games and big fish games:

Video Typography and good life lessons.

I'll start by showing a few examples of video typography. Now video typography is like regular typography except that it is put into motion using video and 3d effects.

This first example is of traditional video typography:

Another example is from the movie tintin, but has more animation in it than the example above:

On a different note, yesterday I watched the Queen Latifah Show and watched Price EA who is a video/online poet. His poetry was inspirational and has some typography in it. The video is posted below along with a link to his youtube channel.

Well that's it for now. I hope everyone who views this blog enjoys reading it and I'll see you guys tomorrow.

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about some of my professors at USI(university of southern indiana) who are professional graphic designers. First off, Erich Shelton is a typography professor at USI and an excellent teacher. I will include a link to his website because the USI website links to the art professors websites does not work.
Anyway here is a picture of Erich while he is teaching.
Here is a link to his website: http://erichshelton.com/
